This site is from the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program,
a program funded by the United States Department of Energy (DOE). The
ARM program studies the natural phenomena that occur in clouds, and how
those cloud conditions affect the sun's incoming and outgoing energy and,
in the longer term, our climate. The goal of the Education and Outreach
Program is to develop basic science awareness and increase critical
thinking skills focusing on environmental science and climate change for
K-12 students. In addition, the program supports relationship building
between teachers, students, scientists, and communities.

Very cool interactive on this website in most subject areas! All of the
interactive are very educational as well as fun (for example there is a very
cool blood typing interactive that allows the student to determine the blood
type of a "patient" and then to administer the correct blood type to save the

This website is cool for many reasons. It has a quiz lab where teachers can create online quizzes that
will be graded automatically and grades can be tracked and recorded. It also has fun learning games
for anything from science, to math to language arts (such as Proton Don in which students learn
the elements of the periodic table). The games and such are free, but using the quiz creator
and grade book cost a small annual fee. (Suggested Grade Level: 4-12)

This website is full of videos that are a wonderful resource and can be aligned
with a specific state's standards. The videos are said to "help improve
retention and test scores". It also provides a network for teachers to
work together and tell others of their experiences and what works best. It

but it is usable by the entire school to get whatever videos needed.

This website is very cool. It has free videos and
lesson plans for biology. The lesson plans include state and national

This website has very useful things for chemistry teachers. It has
tutorials and practice problems as well as free labs, books and lots of
other stuff. The author (Ian Guch) of the website is also the author of

An ozone detection lab is included at this website. It is very cool
because it has a way to make the strips (Schoenbein paper) that detect
the ozone and also has a color chart so that the concentration of ozone
in parts per billion can be roughly determined. This is a very fun

earthquakes, global warming, carbon dating, and rivers. Most of the
tutorials include tools for instructors to assess students, as well.

Physics Sites

This very cool website is great for teaching students how electric circuits work.
There are fun activities and then quizzes to follow each informative section that
it presents. At the very end if the student has performed well on the quizzes, a
certificate can be printed saying that the student completed the very fun tutorial.

Donors Choose
Donors Choose is a non-profit program that allows teachers to submit a project
proposal for materials and student activities/experiences that help the students
to learn. The proposal is submitted and donors come to the website and can choose
the proposal on the site that they want to donate to (all or partial amounts).
Teachers in any subject area can submit a proposal.

Toshiba America Foundation
This foundation is helping to improve the quality of education in math
science in schools. These grants can be for activities and programs that
improve teaching and learning of math and science in all grade levels.

Toyota Tapestry
This program allows for innovation as well as educational grant application.
In order to qualify for the grant, the teacher must have an innovative way to
use whatever it is that they are applying for the grant for. In other words,
the more creative the proposal is the better.

EDS Technology Grants
This program is another grant program. In order to obtain an application for
the grant, however, the teacher must contact a current EDS grant sponsor. They
do not provide grants to home schools or after school programs.

American Federation of Teachers
This website has tips for writing grants and also has several other ideas
for finding a place to apply for grants and other things such as loan forgiveness
programs for teachers.

This program works with teachers adding some things to their wish list and donors
offering to donate those things to their classrooms.

Adopt-a-Classroom
Once a donor adopts the classroom the teacher has a $500 credit to buy supplies
from affiliated vendors.

Best Buy has a community relations program that provides Best Buy Teach Awards
for schools to purchase technology, supports innovative programs that use technology
to make learning fun for kids, and mobilizes their tech savvy employees as
volunteers throughout the country. There are many opportunities for educators,
students, and communities to get involved.
