Remote control of high-altitude balloon payload

January 25, 2008 - As part of an Air Force Phase II SBIR project, Anasphere demonstrated the ability to remotely control, track and receive data from a dropsonde-carrying high-altitude balloon via an internet connection, all from the comfort of our own conference room.

New facility

January 15, 2008 - Ground was broken for Anasphere's new 8,000 square foot facility near Four Corners. The new space should be move-in ready by May 1st!

Local 4-H and Anasphere Outreach launch weather balloon!

November 17, 2007 - Eight local 4-H students came to Anasphere, Inc. to build and launch an AnaSonde-M. Brianna Gillund and Janet Lynch assisted the students in soldering the AnaSonde circuit boards, constructing the parachute, and learning about the weather and climate through a web search, word games, and a cloud-making demonstration. Here is a full description of this outreach event.

MEA-MFT Educator's Conference

Brianna Gillund and Janet Lynch attended the MEA-MFT Educator's Conference in Belgrade, Montana on October 18th and 19th. Over the two days, they were able to interact with scientists and teachers from all around Montana. In addition to presenting an Anasphere education poster and displaying some of Anasphere's educational instruments, Brianna and Janet attended numerous classes. Some of these classes included "Hot Science!: Activities for the Classroom" from the Thermal Biology Institute, "Environmental Sciences: Issues for High School", and "Science Fairs" from Rick Hannula, Chief Joseph Middle School. These classes were not only a lot of fun, they were very infomative and will help Anasphere add to their educational resources!

Contracts

Anasphere has received two new SBIR contracts in October:

  • Environmental Sensor for Autonomous UAVs: This Phase I from the U.S. Army is for the development of an environmental sensor payload to support the operation of electro-optical sensors on all sizes of UAVs.
  • Miniature Carbon Dioxide Sensor for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems: This Phase II from NASA builds upon Phase I work which demonstrated an entirely new type of sensing technology for carbon dioxide.

Record Flight

August 8, 2007 - Today Anasphere celebrated its 5th year in business! Also, today's flight of an AnaSonde-M set a new record for the original AnaSonde family by reaching the 197-millibar level (about 39,000 feet). This flight used a stock AnaSonde-M with the standard 10-milliwatt transmitter, flying on a regular 3-foot diameter party balloon.

New Website

Anasphere has a new and improved website! Anasphere's rapid growth and development has caused our original website to be outdated! In addition to starting work on new systems and sensors as well as maintaining work on our existing systems, Anasphere has also expanded in size and location. Teachers and students will be pleased to see that there are now educational tools and materials to learn about meteorology, the atmosphere, and the environment. For more information on Anasphere's background and current happenings, take a tour through our new site! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or experience any problems with our new site.
